Organizers have confirmed that seven people were taken to hospital after the crowd surged into the music festival.
The incident happened on Friday at the Boardmasters music festival in Newquay, Cornwall.
A woman described the incident as “horrific” and said she and her daughter were crushed against barriers during the smash. Another parent said their “distraught” son left the festival early.
Devon and Cornwall Police said a “small number of attendees were injured” at the festival as “crowding collapsed”, adding that none of the injuries were believed to be serious.
The force said in a statement: “Contrary to speculation, we can confirm that there were no casualties as a result of this incident.
“This is an isolated incident and the festival continues.”
In a statement on Saturday, the boardmasters said that “seven participants were transferred to a nearby hospital for precautionary examination” after being seen by its medical team.
It added: “They were treated for minor injuries and later all evacuated.”
In 'Known Misery'
The woman, who was crushed against the barrier, “lifted” her daughter from the crush and said, “I pulled myself out.”
Reunited with her husband and youngest daughter outside, the family eventually decided to skip the festival altogether.
“My daughters were scared,” she added.
Another parent told BBC Radio Cornwall that their 19-year-old son left the party early following the attraction.
James Thompson said his son called him at 22:30 BST on Friday and said people were “obviously distressed” by the uprising, with some suffering “like broken legs”.
'It doesn't feel safe'
Mr Thompson said his son attended Boardmasters with friends, went to other festivals and always “had a good time”.
“They are upset about what happened,” he said.
“They decided to come home because they didn't know if it would happen again today.”
Lucy, Devon's concerned parent, described the scene as “bedlam”.
He said organizers wanted to make the event “safer for festival-goers”.
“It doesn't feel safe, it doesn't feel staffed,” he said.
Devon and Cornwall Police said the incident was “isolated”, and celebrations are continuing.
“The injured parties were treated on the spot by medical personnel and a small number were taken to hospital for evaluation for minor injuries,” the force added.
'Safety is our priority'
Festival organizers said a scheduled set by DJ and producer Sammy Virgi was canceled and The Point stage was closed to allow on-site crews to respond to “an incident in the audience”.
DJ Sami Virji said he was “emotional” his set had to be cancelled, but said “safety must always come first”.
“The cancellation is completely out of my hands and I hope you all understand the festival needs to prioritize everyone's well-being. We'll catch you all soon on another set,” he said in a post on Instagram.
A 58,000 people are expected to attend the festival This year featured headliners Chase & Status, Sam Fender and Stormzy.
