WILLIS, Texas – The Willis family is recovering after a horrific dog attack on Monday. Michelle Means said she and her family were injured by her neighbors 8 pit bulls and had to be taken to the hospital for their injuries.
“I just remembered that I didn’t want to die, but it felt like I was going to die,” said Michelle Means.
Means said his pregnant daughter and son were the first to be attacked by his neighbor’s pit bulls. After a while, he was also attacked by animals.
“They immediately started attacking me, biting my head, neck, arms, legs,” said Means.
Bite marks on his body, lacerations on his neck, and deep wounds are what Means was left with following the dog attack.
“I looked down at that brown and white dog, and it looked at me, like something caught its eye, and it jumped at that moment and touched my face,” said Means. “And within seconds one had grabbed my calf and I was down.”

As he tried to fight the dogs, a man with a shovel came to his aid and scared the animals away, but the damage and injury had already been done. Michelle and her children were rushed to the hospital for treatment. They had to get multiple rabies shots. After two surgeries, over 180 stitches, and 90 staples, Michelle was able to return home.
“The dog had bitten my mouth, so they had to retie my mouth and sew all this up. There was nothing left on my cheek, so they had to pull the skin,” said Means.

Michelle said she has no ill will towards her neighbor, but she wants people to know the nature of animals.
“I want people to know that it’s not always what the owners do and how good the owners are, sometimes even the best dogs break,” said Michelle.
Michelle said she hopes to meet the man who saved her life. He also said that the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office came to retrieve two of the dogs that attacked him and that they had been put down. FOX 26 reached out to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office to confirm the animal’s condition, but did not hear back.
