After their victory in the 2024 Paris Olympics in the summer of 2024, Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James would definitely want to team up with Warriors guard Steph Curry on the NBA court.

Various NBA figures have suggested Curry join James in Los Angeles, but ESPN analyst Michael Wilbon urged the Warriors to make a move to bring their longtime nemesis to the Bay.

Wilbon expressed a lack of confidence in the current rosters of the Warriors and Lakers on Friday’s episode of “NBA Today.”

“Let’s do it. All these assets are great if Steph and Draymond were 31 and 32,” Wilbon stated. “You could wait for them—and I love them. [Jonathan] Kuminga — but they are not 31 and 32 years old. Now you are talking about maximization. They don’t catch Oklahoma City. They’re not going to catch Dallas … with the personnel they’ve assembled right now.”

So, in Wilbon’s eyes, why not try to land an all-time great, even if he wasn’t sure Golden State could top the Western Conference even with James?

“But if you’re telling me that if somebody watched the Olympics this summer and you saw LeBron James and Steph Curry play, how can you not want to see that?” Wilbon continued. “I’m not saying it’s easy when you tell us how it’s possible, if at all. But tell me, the Lakers stink. . . . Is LeBron going to ride another season like this? Why would he?”

Given the relatively close proximity between the two California teams, Wilbon designed a unique work-life arrangement for James.

“Can’t you play in San Francisco and live in Los Angeles if you want?” Wilbon speculated. “This is tailor-made for these two guys to play together and end their careers.”

Is a Steph-LeBron alliance likely to happen again? Probably not. But it would definitely be worth watching.
