(FOX40.COM) – Caltrans is continuing work on the $483.5 million US Highway 50 “Fix50” Project, which includes a long-term traffic movement on US-50 westbound beginning at 9 pm on December 2 and ending through 2025.
According to Caltrans, the new traffic changes are needed so that crews can remove the existing road, install water, lower the road to make it more clear under the crossing bridges, and repair the highway with reinforced concrete on the roads.

The traffic diversion will be from 39th Street to 24th Street, restoring traffic to two left lanes and three right lanes. The two left lanes will split again, with one lane to the left of the concrete median and the other to the right. The change is expected to last until May 2025.
Caltrans advises motorists to pay attention to traffic signs so they know in advance which route to take. Motorists looking to use the Stockton Boulevard off-ramp, the northbound and southbound Business 80 interchange, and the 26th Street off-ramp need to stay in the far-right lanes.

Drivers traveling through the work zone should expect lane restrictions and be aware of work vehicles moving in and out of the area, according to Caltrans. The speed limit for the work zone has been reduced to 55 mph and the California Highway Patrol will be on hand to enforce traffic.
Caltrans said work is scheduled to begin as scheduled but is subject to change due to traffic events, weather, equipment and/or material availability, and construction-related issues.
