WASHINGTON (Reuters) – U.S. President Donald Trump’s team reached an agreement on Tuesday with the Justice Department to allow them to hand over background checks and security clearances, which are needed to obtain information.
Trump’s team last week signed a separate agreement allowing direct contact with federal agencies and access to documents, but has held off on signing the deal with the Justice Department as negotiations continue.
The agreement with the Department of Justice “will enable our teams to get the information they need to prepare for the leadership of federal agencies and departments,” Trump’s transition team said in a statement.
