GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – People were injured in a multi-vehicle crash on US-131 in Grand Rapids Thursday evening that closed the northbound lanes of the highway, the Grand Rapids Police Department confirmed.
The closure is northbound at US-131 and 28th Street, according to GRPD and the Michigan Department of Transportation.
Up to 15 vehicles were involved in the crash, GRPD said, and several people were injured.
It is not yet clear what caused the crash, but police have warned that the weather may have been a factor in the crash. Lake-effect snow moved in Thursday night, and the snowfall is expected to end by early Saturday morning, Storm Team 8 predicts. A winter weather advisory is in effect for most of West Michigan until 7 a.m. Saturday.
