The sea heat is expected for another Sunday night

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) – Another round of snow-drops in the ocean is likely Sunday into Monday, with significant snow possible in a few areas.

Flurry of light is expected throughout the night into early Sunday, with less accumulation expected. Lake-effect is expected to gradually increase through the afternoon, with bands mainly affecting areas south and west of Grand Rapids.

While travel will be light during the day Sunday with highs in the low 30s, slippery roads are likely where snow continues to fall after dark.

The placement of lake-effect bands Sunday night into Monday is difficult to predict with much certainty. While it is possible to be south and west of Grand Rapids, there may be sharp cutoffs. Heavy snow will be present below those belts.

As the wind moves slightly to the north on Monday, the heaviest part of the lake may move closer to the coast. However, heavy snowfall is possible there at times during the day.

The winter conditions of this event are also tricky, due to the persistent uncertainty regarding the deposition of heavy oceanic bands. However, that is mostly south and west of Grand Rapids. Between US-31 and US-131, 2 or more inches of fresh snow is possible by late Monday.
