Steph Curry knows the Warriors need to bounce back from back-to-back losses.
In an interview with the media after Monday’s frustrating 128-120 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, Curry gave his thoughts on the state of the team.
“Overall, I think you have to look at the bright spots early in our season,” Curry told reporters. “These last two games definitely left a sour taste. We’ve given ourselves a bit of a cushion with a new kind of mindset with who we’re trying to create [offensively] regardless of who is on the floor.
“We still play with 12 guys and you have to be able to adapt no matter what the offensive combinations are. Move the ball, with everyone involved as a screener, as a passer, as a dribbler. I think we can be a little more intentional about what type of shots we want to create with certain setups. And that’s part of growing the team, we all have to be committed to making those adjustments.”
While Golden State has had a surprisingly good start to the season, the last two games have been frustrating. Poor offensive decisions, sloppy ball handling and missed defensive assignments were too much to overcome in losses to the San Antonio Spurs and Nets.
Still, at 12-5, the Warriors are in contention for the No. 1 seed in the Western Conference a month into the season, a much better position than they were a year ago.
Curry continued his offensive brilliance, but the rest of the team struggled to score consistently. Buddy Hield had a hot start to the season, but recently cooled off, leaving Golden State without a reliable second-goal option.
Figuring out the offense and solidifying the defense will be crucial for the team to fight for the top seed for the rest of the season.
Golden State now faces the Oklahoma City Thunder (13-4) on Wednesday night at the Chase Center in a matchup of the Western Conference’s top two teams.
