Quick Summary
The Samsung Galaxy S25 family has passed the FCC, confirming that the launch is near.
The listing doesn’t reveal much new information about the phone, but it makes us expect a launch soon.
The launch of the Samsung Galaxy S25 family – expected to be led by the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra – is getting closer, with leaks happening daily. A Samsung is always fighting for the best phone at the moment, and we just got a key piece of information that could see that pattern continue.
The Samsung Galaxy S25 series has passed the FCC, the certification authority for communications equipment in the US, confirming a range of information about mobile devices. Found by 91mobiles, they confirm that these devices have passed BIS, 3C and other certification platforms.
Importantly, FCC certification takes place before launch. Although that was never in doubt – we always knew that Samsung would launch these devices, right? – confirms the message that this start will happen soon. All expectations are for early-January launches of new Samsung phones.
Due to the FCC certification, we can see that the Samsung Galaxy S25, Samsung Galaxy S25 + and Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra have all received certification. Note that there is no mention of the Galaxy S25 Slim, which is expected to appear later in the year.
But, what do we learn from planning? Not much, unfortunately. It appears that there will still be differences between the standard Galaxy S25, the S25 Plus and UItra, but that’s about it. The point here is that the bigger devices get UWB (ultra wideband) support for things like digital car keys, while they also support 45W charging, while smaller phones are expected to stick to 25W charging.
Elsewhere we know that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will have an S Pen – as revealed recently – which is also a Wacom device.
Samsung Galaxy S25 specs and information
Here’s a quick rundown of the specs we’re expecting for the three devices, but note that this is based on leaks and rumors, so not definitive.
The exact launch date is still unknown, but we are sure that Samsung will have the Galaxy Unpacked confirmed before we enter CES 2025.
It is likely that the calls will start right after the big Vegas tech event, so maybe in the weeks starting 13 January or 20 January 2025.
