Perkins believes Steph is on ‘revenge tour’ after Klay’s departure appeared first on NBC Sports Bay Area
The Warriors rule the Western Conference as they did in 2015 and are in first place 15 games into the 2024-25 NBA season.
But they are a completely different team than they were during the dynasty years, so what is driving them to this early success?
“He’s the light-skinned, green-eyed brother,” ESPN analyst Kendrick Perkins told Sports Center on Friday. “It seems like he’s on a revenge tour right now. I saw that look in his eyes during the preseason and I said, ‘Steph Curry is locked in. I think Steph Curry feels a certain way when Klay Thompson leaves. We saw the passion with played when the 13-man rotation beat Dallas a few weeks ago.
“He defends the perimeter at an extremely high level. No. 1 in guarding the 3-point line. Draymond Green looks like a guy who says, ‘You know what? I think when it comes down to it, you all forgot about me. to Defensive Player of the Year guys and I’m going to put my name back in the conversation.” and it is a mystery.
“The Warriors are a legitimate threat in the Western Conference to make it to the West.”

In his 16th season at age 36, Curry has shown no signs of slowing down, even after dealing with an ankle injury.
In 12 games this season, the two-time NBA MVP is averaging 22.7 points on 48.9 percent shooting from the field and 45 percent from long range, with 5.3 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 29.6 minutes.
Playing without his longtime teammate and Splash Bro for the first time in 13 years, there were some adjustments made for Curry and the entire team. But offseason additions and lineup tweaks have so far proven to be working.
It’s unclear if Curry has his own agenda after Thompson left his side to join Kyrie Irving, Luka Dončić and the Mavericks this season, but we do know that he took Thompson’s recent return to the Chase Center personally after Thompson he apparently “ghosted” Curry.
Green revealed on “The Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis” that Curry, who was scheduled to give a pregame speech about Thompson during his Bay Area homecoming but then canceled at the last minute, reached out to Thompson to check on something but never got around to it. he didn’t answer. Green said Curry was “pissed off” by it, which sparked a 37-point showing from Chef, including 12 points in the final three minutes and a 3-pointer followed by his signature “night night” celebration.
Call it pissed off. Call it revenge. Call it competitiveness.
Whatever it is, it’s working for Curry and the Warriors.
