:: Workers prepare the Notre-Dame
the grand opening of the cathedral in early December
:: The building was destroyed by fire in 2019,
with more than $580 million spent on repairs
The cathedral, built over nearly 200 years starting in the middle of the 12th century, is expected to open on December 8 with days of celebrations following the devastating fire on April 15, 2019.
Although French authorities have said that an electrical fault or cigarette smoke may have caused the fire, it is not yet clear what caused it.
The facade of this building, which runs over the island of Ile de la Cite in the middle of the river Seine, was caught, but the damage required years of work to stabilize and restore the building. About 500 workers were running to do this.
The official in charge of the project said in April that the project cost 550 million euros (580.36 million), supported in part by large donations, including the top billionaire Francois Henri Pinault and the Arnault family. The Cathedral has received so much money that there will be money left over to add more money to the building.
