SEOUL (Reuters) – North Korean state media KCNA on Monday reported that South Korea’s parliament passed President Yoon Suk Yeol’s impeachment vote on Saturday.
Yoon was suspended in a second vote by South Korea’s opposition-led parliament over his short-lived attempt to enact martial law, which shocked the nation.
KCNA had announced for the first time on December 11th the martial law violence in South Korea which was started on December 3rd.

On Monday, KCNA did not comment much, but called Yoon’s defamatory remarks on television on December 12 “a news report that combines lies and stubbornness” and noted a rally in front of South Korea’s parliament calling for Yoon’s impeachment.
It also noted media reports about various South Korean military and police officers being suspended and Yoon being investigated.
After the suspension vote ended on Saturday, Defense Minister Kim Seon-ho called on the military to remain on alert and ordered officials to work immediately to stabilize their forces.
On Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said Russia had begun using North Korean troops in significant numbers for the first time against Ukrainian forces fighting for control of territory in Russia’s Kursk region.
