Massport informs the CDC amid concerns about sick passengers on flights landing in Boston

Two flights landed in Boston on Sunday afternoon with crew members and passengers “complaining of illness,” prompting officials to notify the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

A spokeswoman for the Massachusetts Port Authority, which owns and operates Boston’s Logan International Airport, said the sick people on the Delta and Avianca flights landed in the city “at the same time.”

“It’s possible that high winds affected the plane, but I couldn’t say that,” said the spokesperson in an interview with Boston 25 News. “We approached the CDC with a lot of caution.”

At least two of the patients were taken to hospital after landing, according to the spokesman.

In a statement to Boston 25 on Monday afternoon, a Delta spokesperson said no customers reported illness on Delta Flight 225 from Paris to Boston, but two Delta employees on the flight sought medical attention after not feeling well.

The extent of his illness was not known Monday. However, a Delta spokeswoman said there were no public health concerns and the two people on board were evaluated by EMTs upon arrival in Boston. There were no delays or cancellations as a result.
