Manchester United snapped a two-game losing streak in spectacular fashion on Sunday, coming from behind to beat Manchester City in their long-running rivalry.
What started as a fairly dull edition of the Manchester derby took a stunning turn as Man United scored twice in the last three minutes of regulation to take a 2-1 lead.
Manchester City controlled much of the game as defender Joško Guardiol headed in the opening goal from a set piece in the 36th minute. But United came back strong in those final minutes to claim victory.
Bruno Fernandes scored Man United’s equalizing goal in the 88th minute from a penalty kick. Man City defender Matheus Nunes made two significant mistakes that led to the set-piece. He first attempted a poor pass that was intercepted by United striker Amad Diallo, before fouling Diallo in the box in his rush to make amends.
Diallo had the last laugh as he sprinted through the Man City defense to score the winner in the 90th minute, got a lovely strike over the head of City keeper Ederson and skilfully slotted the ball into the net to win.
With the loss, Manchester City have now lost five of their last seven games and have also struggled immensely in the UEFA Champions League.
