Man who was rescued after Kaysville ‘tree-cutting accident’ dies in hospital

KAYSVILLE, Utah (ABC4) — The person who was rescued by firefighters after shedding consciousness in a “tree-cutting accident” died in a hospital from his accidents, Kaysville Police Division confirmed Thursday.

The Kaysville Hearth Division responded to a report of a tree-cutting incident close to 130 E Shadowbrook Lane in Kaysville on Wednesday morning, March 19. Authorities stated they discovered a person — now recognized as Santos Baudilio Lopez Perez, 49 — unconscious and suspended 30 ft within the air by his harness.

Kaysville Police stated Perez was engaged on chopping the highest part of a tree and made “the ultimate lower,” after which the tree’s prime half fell on prime of him on its approach to the bottom. He was harnessed to the tree, inflicting him “to remain suspended within the air after the incident.”
