Light snow could create slick areas before Wednesday morning’s commute and more snow is expected to follow, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
About a 10 percent chance of snow is possible Tuesday night, NWS Louisville meteorologist Samantha Michlowitz said. Any snow that accumulates can be melted “well.”

“The impact we’re going to see from this is not from the accumulation of snow, but from some rapidly falling temperatures,” said Michlowitz. “So bridges, overpasses, any low-lying areas can see a little bit of snow, but generally, as far as the snow goes, we have to handle that well because (the accumulation) is small.”
The transition from rain to snow is the result of a cold front moving into the region, Michlowitz said. Temperatures are expected to drop to 20 degrees Tuesday night. The cold air will last for a few days.
A second wave of light snow could come Wednesday afternoon, according to the weather service. The snow accumulation will likely be similar to overnight snowfall, Michlowitz said.
