After five months out, Kristaps Porzingis will return to the court this week, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Porzingis will reportedly make his season debut on Monday night when the Celtics take on the Los Angeles Clippers.
The Boston forward has had a long recovery since undergoing ankle surgery in June. The surgery repaired a torn retina and a dislocated posterior tibial tendon — a rare ankle injury Porzingis suffered during Game 2 of the NBA Finals.
The Latvian big man missed Games 3 and 4 of the finals through injury, but was later available for Game 5 in a limited capacity. Boston won the NBA Championship with a series-clinching 4-1 victory over the Dallas Mavericks.
Porzingis missed the first 17 games of the season while recovering from surgery. Boston is off to a 14-3 start since the start of the championship, but is sure to get a boost from the return of Porzingis.
