Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright Take Out a $2.2 Million Mortgage After His $1 Million in Taxes

The Valley stars Jax Taylor and Brittany Cartwright received a second mortgage on their $2.2 million Valley Village home. The strange thing is that the loan was approved afterwards A $1 million tax bill was placed on the property. Most likely, there was a provision that the tax liability would be paid from the proceeds of the second loan, minus the title of the bank.

The couple is in the process of divorcing and living separately. Brittany and her son Cruz live in the house, while Jax has a small house next door.

US Sun says the couple first purchased the home in 2019 for $199,433,500, requiring a $143,500 deposit after down payment. The loan had a maturity date of June 1, 2049.

In July 2022, a Notice of Federal Tax Lien was filed for the $1,058,345.58 owed in taxes going back eight years. Apparently, Jax hadn’t paid his income tax in a while. The bill included $23,008.45 for 2014, $118,169.57 for 2016, $72,110.16 for 2017, $198,190.36 for 2018 and $646,867.04 for 2019.

Perhaps to pay the back taxes, the couple obtained a second loan of $ 2,240,000 in 2022, with a maturity date of 2062. The United States Day revealed the information that Brittany has been paying the loan alone in recent months. A representative for the couple declined to comment.

An anonymous expert estimated: “The loan is about $6,500 a month … not including interest and assuming a 30-year term. It would be about $10,000 a month with payments and interest, plus taxes.”

Although Jax and Brittany always said that they “don’t believe in divorce,” things came to a point where he had to leave for his own well-being. She and Cruz moved in February 2024. When Jax went to a mental hospital that summer, Britt and Cruz moved back home.

“Everybody’s like, ‘Okay, what?’ you you didn’t go?’” Jax said at the time. “I’m like, yeah, I pay my mortgage. I couldn’t pay the mortgage… [for] two places … I can’t buy a house and a house.”

Brittany filed for divorce in August 2024. Jax then admitted that Brittany makes more money than him. Apparently, she is foreclosing on their house, while Jax pays the rent on his tiny house.

Season 1 of The Valley is now streaming on Peacock.
