Jamie Foxx is recovering after a physical altercation at a Beverly Hills restaurant

Jamie Foxx is recovering after an incident at a restaurant during his birthday dinner on Friday left him injured.

“Jamie Foxx was at his birthday dinner when someone from another table threw a glass that hit him in the mouth,” Foxx’s spokesperson said. “He had to get stitches and is recovering. The police were called and the matter is now in the hands of the police.”

The Beverly Hills Police Department said it responded to “a possible assault with a deadly weapon at Mr. Chow’s restaurant, located at 344 N. Camden Drive.” The incident happened shortly after 10 p.m., police said, although the department would not name Foxx.

“Upon investigation, police determined that the assault with a deadly weapon was unprovoked,” BHPD said. “Instead, the incident involved a physical altercation between the parties. BHPD conducted a preliminary investigation and completed a citation for battery. No one has been arrested.”

CNN has reached Mr. Chow to talk.

The event comes days after the Hollywood star described the problems he had with his health last year in a Netflix special called: “Jamie Foxx: What Happened.”

‘I don’t remember 20 days’

In a Netflix show that aired Tuesday, Foxx said he suffered a brain hemorrhage that led to a stroke during a medical emergency he faced last year.

“It’s a mystery,” the Oscar-winning actor said in the Netflix special. “We still don’t know exactly what happened to me.”

“On April 11, I had a headache and I asked my boyfriend to give me aspirin. And I quickly realized that when you’re in a medical emergency, your guys don’t know what to do,” he said on Netflix.

“Before I got the aspirin I passed out,” he said. “I don’t remember twenty days.”

Foxx credited his sister, whom he called “4-foot-11 nothing but pure love,” for driving him around Atlanta to find the hospital.

They ended up at Piedmont Hospital, where the doctor told them that Foxx had a brain bleed that caused a stroke and that he would die without surgery, the actor said on the Netflix special.

After the surgery, doctors said Foxx could make a full recovery, “but it’s going to be the worst year of his life,” Foxx said on Netflix.
