Iga Swiateková, the world number 2 tennis player, received a one-month ban after testing positive for a banned substance.

The four-time French Open champion (23) tested positive for trimetazidine, a drug used primarily to prevent heart attacks.

“The player has been provisionally suspended from September 22 to October 4 because he has missed three tournaments, which count towards the sanction, with eight days remaining,” the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) said in a statement.

Swiateková won her fourth French Open earlier this year. She also won the US Open in 2022.
