ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A police pursuit involving two vehicles ended in a collision near I-270 and I-44 on Wednesday afternoon. Four people have been arrested, only one person is on the run.
Investigators tell FOX 2 the search was part of a Homeland Security task force operation.
Three suspects in the same car were arrested. A driver in another car that was following crashed nearby. One of the two suspects in the second car was taken into custody, the other escaped.
As a precaution, the Lindbergh School District delayed dismissing students as police searched nearby woods. Schools held students until 3pm when the police confirmed that the area was safe.
“I was pretty sure we knew (the police) were out here,” nearby resident Barb Hartley said. “They were right at my house, so I knew we were safe, but they had the power to find this man.”
Sunset Hills police found the fugitive just before 4 p.m. As of Wednesday night, all suspects are in custody.
ICE is now handling the investigation, according to police.
