Here’s How People Are Reacting To Donald Trump Saying Lowering Grocery Prices Will Be “Hard”

For those of us who followed the 2024 election, we know that Donald Trump made his 2024 campaign promise to lower grocery prices for everyday Americans.

Here are a few campaign strategies to consider:

On August 15, Trump held a press conference in New Jersey, where he had a table full of groceries by his side. “Grocery prices are high; how can a family afford that? So, if I win, I will quickly bring prices down,” Trump said.

On September 23, Mr. Trump visited a grocery store in Kittanning, Pennsylvania, and paid for groceries for several customers. “We’ll do that for you from the White House, okay?” Trump said waving to the crowd.

Even after winning the 2024 election, Mr. Trump said that grocery was the reason for his victory. “I won on groceries. Simple word, groceries,” he said in a Meet The Press interview. “I started using the word grocery. If you bought apples, if you bought bacon, if you bought eggs, the price would triple in a short period of time.”

Now, Trump is going viral for seemingly going back on a grocery campaign promise.

In an interview with The Times Magazine recently, Mr. Trump said that the failure to reduce prices should not mean that his administration has failed.

In the interview, Trump was asked directly: “If stock prices don’t go down, will your administration fail?” To which he replied, “I don’t think so. Look, they raised them. I want to take them down,” Trump replied. “It’s hard to take things down once they’re up. You know, it’s hard.”

“But I think they will. I think that power will slow them down. I think that better sales will slow down. You know, the supply chain is still broken. It’s broken. You see it. You go to the station, and you see all these devices …” Mr. Trump continued, moving on to discuss the prices of cars and electric vehicles.

“The whole rationale behind Trump was ‘yes he’s a criminal, yes he’s corrupt, yes he’s racist, yes he’s a fascist, yes he encouraged violence, yes he lives for dictators BUT AT LEAST!! BUT OF COURSE we had cheap groceries. .’ Now he admits he can’t even do it,” the user wrote.
