First Light Inside Restored Notre Dame Cathedral After Devastating Fire

French authorities took their first look at the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, in images released on November 29, five years after it was destroyed by a major fire in 2019.

In April 2019, a fire broke out in the roof of the church. By the time it went out, its wooden spire had collapsed, much of the wooden roof and upper walls had been badly damaged.

The cause is not yet known, but authorities believe that cigarettes or an electrical issue may have started the fire.
