It’s never too early to look forward to your next match and the chance to strengthen your fantasy football squads. Here are some options to consider in Week 14 — another bye-apocalypse when the Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots and Commanders all have byes.
Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Tennessee Titans (17% on roster)
We already discussed Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in last week’s early bird column, so we’ll keep things brief here.
What will it take to get NWI into other fantasy football leagues?
You’d think a touchdown machine would be added the moment his streak takes off, but it seems fantasy managers still don’t believe in the play of Will Levis and the Titans. Still, NWI trades targets and catches for big plays and touchdowns, adding two more scores in Week 13 — his seventh and eighth in the last eight games.
Touchdowns are hard to predict, but so far Westbrook-Ikhine appears to be the closest to locking down the scoring department of any wide receiver.
Parker Washington, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars (1%)
Trevor Lawrence returned to the field in Week 13 only to leave again, this time with a head injury after a dirty hit that led to a fight. Mac Jones would take over and Parker Washington was the biggest beneficiary.
Washington had by far his best game of the season, scoring and adding a 2-point conversion on a whopping 12 field goals. Washington and Brian Thomas Jr. looked like the top two receivers for the Jaguars on the day, and that could be the case moving forward. The Jags next take on the Titans, whose normally stout defense was just destroyed by Terry McLaurin and the Chiefs. Add Washington if you’re desperate for WR help in Week 14.
Speculative addition: Honest McCormick, RB, Las Vegas Raiders (0%)
Full disclosure: The outspoken McCormick has been returned to the practice squad after being promoted to the squad for the Raiders’ game against the Chiefs on Friday afternoon. Vegas was already missing Alexander Mattison and Zamir White, but instead of letting Ameer Abdullah carry the load, McCormick actually led the backfield with 12 rushing attempts.
Abdullah really led the backfield in snaps, so he could very well remain the “leader” in Vegas while Mattison and White are out. But it’s not like any of these backs have impressed to the point where you’d expect their roles to be completely safe. For a stash on the bench in the deeper leagues before a fantasy playoff run, you could do worse than an intriguing young defenseman.
