I’ve shared a holiday gift guide, but many of you have asked for a gift guide with unusual ideas other than the usual kitchen gadgets, clothes, and toys. A list of gift ideas is just that… a compilation of unique and creative ideas that your recipient may not already have!
All of these gifts are practical, healthy, and usable so they don’t sit on the shelf. Give it to a wedding, birthday, or just because. As a bonus, if you live in the same household as your recipient, you can also reap the health benefits of those gifts!
Top Unique Gift Ideas
These are the gifts I give to the hard-to-buy-for people on my list. I know they don’t have these already and I love that they will have some health benefits too!
Red Light Therapy
My mom is getting it (hope she doesn’t read this!) this year. Red light therapy or photobiomodulation has been shown to improve the skin, increase collagen production, and improve mitochondrial function in the body. I use it every day and wanted her to get the benefits too.
I use the Joovv Combo light. You can get the small version (pictured here) of the health benefits of going to or one of their modular glasses. With the modular option, your recipient can purchase multiple panels later for a full body experience.
LeelaQ Energy Products
You don’t need to understand quantum mechanics to harness its power. LeelaQ offers their own quantum blocks that harmonize energy and help protect against harmful energy like 5G and other radiation. They offer a variety of quantum energy for every budget.
You can learn more about the science behind energy medicine on my podcast with owner LeelaQ here. Leela Quantum Tech’s biggest sale of the year starts now and runs until December 3rd. They have 25% OFF everything and 35% off when customers pay in crypto. Use the promo code: BLACKFRIDAY
Beekeeper Course
Give the gift of a new skill and help the planet! Take a beekeeping course: This is an amazing introduction to a beekeeping course. It will teach everything from buying bees to harvesting honey. Use code WELLNESS2021 for 15% off!
Grow your own Mushroom Log
You may have heard of mushroom growing kits that come in a box, but these fungi come with their own log. They can grow organic shiitake mushrooms in 10 days from indoors. They don’t even need to have a green thumb as these mushrooms are guaranteed to grow.
Each box / log can grow two crops of mushrooms. It’s made in the USA by a small business and if you post your harvest on social media they’ll even donate a mushroom kit to the class of your choice.
Mini Trampoline
Great for the lymphatic system, as an easy way to exercise, and plain fun! A small trampoline (also known as a rebounder) will fit into most homes and jumping on it is a great daily activity. They are perfect for staying alive while watching your favorite shows or for small brains and relaxing activities during the day.
A simple and inexpensive trampoline is fun for the kid (or kid at heart) on your list… it’s healthy too!
Flower Press and Frame
Many people like to decorate their homes with fresh flowers, but they don’t last long. With wooden flowers and plant press though, they can preserve nature for years to come! Use flowers, ferns, leaves, and other foliage.
By pushing different types of plants they can create a beautiful look with this hanging mirror.
Acupressure Mat
Your recipient can use this gift at home for a few minutes a day to improve sleep, relieve tension, and increase relaxation. This mattress has up to 10,000 acupressure points that pressurize the body to help increase blood flow to the muscles of your back and neck. This can help reduce inflammation and pain by releasing endorphins.
The neck pillow has 1,782 acupressure points that can reach between the neck and the shoulder, treating tension headaches and neck muscle pain. Here’s one I have and love.
Balance chair
Do you have someone on your list who works at a desk part of the day? Many companies are fine to change their chair to an ergonomic chair even if they are not going to a standing workplace. This balance chair combines a yoga ball and a rolling chair for a desk chair that engages the core and negates some of the harmful aspects of sitting.
Full spectrum solar lamp
For anyone who suffers from Seasonal Illness or daytime sleepiness, sunlight could be the answer. It has a full and bright light that matches the day, even indoors and even in winter.
This is the one I use to keep my cortisol levels healthy.
Acupoint Massager
The Trigger Point Massager looks like a cane but works for self-massage. It hits hard to reach areas and is great for releasing back tension. I like to use this while watching a movie (bonus if you’re sitting on a yoga ball chair too!).
Cruzee Bike
This is only recommended for the 5 and under people on your list. It’s a new approach to cycling training. No training wheels or pedals here, just a very light bike that teaches balance. The best part? Children can pick them up, put them down, and move them on their own.
CSA membership
A great way to support local farms and give the gift of fresh produce all year round. CSA stands for “Community Supported Agriculture” and means that the member basically shares in the produce of the farm that year. We have been a member of several different CSAs over the years and have not liked them all. Search for CSAs in your area here to find one near you.
MyoBuddy
I got one of these as a gift and it’s one of my favorites right now! It’s basically pulsating massage meets myofascial release meets infrared heat. It feels like a combination of deep tissue massage and fascia massage and I find it very relaxing!
I love it so much, I asked my readers for a discount. You can get $50 off Myobuddy Pro2 and $100 off Myobuddy Pro2 + with code WELLNESSMAMA at this link.
Squatty Potty
What could be better than the gift of a good position? The Squatty Potty became popular after its appearance on Shark Tank, many famous fans, and the famous (and now banned) unicorn video. Our family has had it for years.
My midwife even advised me during my pregnancy to get better at the bathroom and prepare for labor. Pair the gift with a bottle of natural bathroom spray to beat the smell.
Chemex with coffee
I have two rules when it comes to coffee… I don’t drink it every day and I only drink good coffee. (except when setting up camp. There’s something about coffee that’s awesome when camping!). My Chemex is one of my favorite ways to make coffee.
Plus, we stick to Four Sigmatic coffee or pure coffee (use code wellness for 20% off!). The Chemex is a glass cone-shaped coffee maker that makes amazing coffee without any trace of bitterness or acidity. It’s also beautiful and *almost* makes me want to drink coffee every day!
Probiotics at Home
It seems strange, right? It turns out that our homes have a microbiome just like our gut, mouth, and skin. Many scientists are concerned that if we are born and live in a sterile environment our gut microbiome may suffer.
We can improve our gut bacteria in many ways, but just as I often let my babies play in natural dirt, we can also support our skin and gut microbiome by interacting with probiotics in our environment. There is also evidence that some beneficial bacteria can help prevent mold and odors in the home. That’s why I spray my house with a homemade probiotic called Homebiotic. The squeamish person on your list might also love this fantastic gift!
Sauna
This is definitely a gift that you would only buy for someone you really love as it is not cheap. There are many benefits to using a sauna daily and one at home is the easiest way to do this. We have a Clearlight two-person sauna that I love because it’s a “quiet box” where I go to sweat, listen to a podcast, and have a few moments of down time.
If you want something portable that is much cheaper (but still works well), then a sauna blanket could be the perfect solution. The Bon Charge sauna blanket is thin enough to store under the bed and has very low EMF emissions. I also love sauna blankets from High Definition and have given them as gifts before.
Puzzle boxes
These beautiful Japanese puzzle boxes are a unique way for older children and adults to keep valuables and enjoy learning. They are handmade and require creativity and problem solving to work.
You can also give them a Money Maze puzzle box with cash. This way they get puzzle fun and cash to get what they want. Much better than a cash-in card!
Personal Photo Book
I make a picture book for each of my children each year with a special memory from the previous year. They always look forward to their special memory book! I also try to make one for my parents as well.
My favorites are Mixbooks. You can customize the design and size and get hard cover or horizontal options. Capture memories of a special trip or event in a photo book for your recipient to cherish.
Which of these gifts is your favorite? What’s the most special gift you’ve ever received?
