Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders escaped ejection for shoving referee in loss to Kansas

Colorado QB Shedeur Sanders avoided being ejected for shoving a referee in the second half of No. 16 Colorado’s 37-21 loss to Kansas.

The officials apparently missed Sanders shoving the referee in the middle of a scuffle between Colorado and Kansas players. Sanders had trouble with Kansas defenders after the sack when he got into contact after the play and the officials had to break up the scrum.

Violent contact with the referee is a penalty for personal foul and disqualification. As you can see, the referee didn’t see Sanders pushing him in the middle of the scrum. No penalties were awarded after the match.

One of the players who took on Sanders was defensive end Dean Miller. In the first half, Miller was kneed by Sanders after he scrambled long and fired an incomplete pass to Will Sheppard. Take a look at the hit that was questionable at best and dirty at worst.

A flag was raised on the field, but officials quickly said Miller’s hit did not stun the passer and Colorado was instead flagged for having the offensive line on the field when Sanders threw the ball.

The QB went to the sideline after the hit, but immediately returned to the game and did not miss the play.

The loss means Colorado (8-3, 6-2 Big 12) now needs help getting into the Big 12 title game. With losses to Kansas and Kansas State, Colorado needs to beat Oklahoma State and lose two before the regular season ends Arizona State, BYU and Iowa State.
