Conservative commentator Scott Jennings is the newest member of The Los Angeles Times editorial board.
“It’s true – I’ve accepted @DrPatSoonShiong’s invitation to join the @latimes board,” Jennings announced in a post on social media platform X on Friday.
“I plan to represent Americans who believe they are often ignored or scorned in heritage issues and I applaud Dr. Soon-Shiong’s decision to bring equality to the editorial board,” she added in the post, saying her other commitments would not be fulfilled. affected by the new job.
Jennings’ announcement comes as Los Angeles Times owner Dr. Patrick Soon-Shiong said he hoped to moderate the opinion in the document through researchers, such as prominent voices. This follows the controversy surrounding this policy of not supporting a candidate for this year’s presidential election.
Soon-Shiong had said that having someone like Scott Jennings on board would help.
“I think it is important that we distinguish the board that deals with these voices. So, right now, we don’t have an editorial board if we’re honest with ourselves. And so, I was struck about the good and the balance,” Soon-Shion said in October.
“So, I’m looking for people like Scott Jennings,” Soon-Shiong added.
Jennings called Soon-Shiong’s desire to compare parts of the mind “breaking.”
“I go about my interpretation work by starting with the truth and then give my honest opinion based on my careful habits and experience.” I think Dr Soon-Shiong is doing something very important and impressive and I’m honored he asked me to play a role in that,” Jennings wrote on the post.
