A man has died after his battle to recover from injuries sustained at home two weeks ago ended.
We first told you about the recent house explosion that happened on the morning of November 17 on Steeplechase Road in Weddington.
Officials told us two people were taken to hospitals for treatment that morning, one with life-threatening injuries.
Earlier this week, Union County officials told Channel 9 that the victim has been released from the hospital.
After being released from the hospital and transferred to a long-term care facility, that man, Wesley Decker, 88, died of his injuries on November 29.
The Union County Fire Marshal’s Office determined that the fire was caused by an oil-air explosion from the garage, but the cause of the explosion is still under investigation.
Authorities in Union County are still investigating the explosion.
