A K-9 sniffs 158 pounds of meth during a traffic stop near Flagstaff

The Coconino County Sheriff’s Office seized 158 pounds of methamphetamine from a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation.

On Nov. 25 shortly before 2:30 a.m., the department’s K-9 unit stopped a vehicle near US Highway 89 and Burris Lane, northeast of Flagstaff. During the stop, K-9 Dex was deployed to sniff the vehicle and alerted on the vehicle, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

When the vehicle was searched, deputies found the drugs and confiscated them.

The driver was arrested and taken to the Coconino County Detention Facility on a charge of transporting a dangerous drug for sale.
