Eagles vs. Predictions The Steelers for Week 15 of the NFL season originally appeared on NBC Sports Philadelphia
The Eagles (11-2) host the Pittsburgh Steelers (10-3) on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
Let’s get to the predictions:
Reuben Frank (7-6)
It would be easy to pick against the Eagles this week. They face a Steelers team that is 10-3 and in first place in the AFC North, has won seven of its last eight games, is an NFL-best 4-0 against winning teams, has a likely Hall of Fame quarterback, the No. 5 scoring defense and has allowed only one 100-yard rusher. Factor in the off-field drama swirling around the Eagles this week, and it seems like a lot is conspiring against the Eagles. But despite all that, I’m picking the Eagles. This team is so talented and so focused and a legitimate Super Bowl contender, and a close win over the Panthers or some unfortunate comments from Brandon Graham did nothing to change my mind. I think everything is fine between Jalen Hurts and AJ Brown, and while I have concerns about the passing game and Jake Elliott, I still think the Eagles will continue this weekend. Ten straight would be the longest streak in franchise history, and with the Steelers trailing only the Commanders, Cowboys and Giants, a win Sunday would make a 13-game winning streak a realistic goal to end the season. This is difficult. One of the biggest challenges for the Eagles this year and I think they will figure it out.

Should be a fun game between two physical teams. Maybe you have a different opinion of the Eagles from this week’s drama, but I’m not there. They are still riding a nine-game winning streak and the formula of running the ball and playing stout defense is working. Sure, the passing game needs to be better than it was against the Panthers, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty of talent on their roster. I think they’ll figure it out. The Eagles are the more talented team in this game. The Eagles defense is still a tough matchup for the Steelers, especially without top receiver George Pickens. I expect Vic Fangio’s defense to have a good game on Saturday. And while it may not be a 30-point game for the Eagles offense, they should be able to put up enough points to win this game and extend that winning streak to 10 games, which would be a new single-season franchise record.

Barrett Brooks (10-3)
Attention is here! The Eagles will be ready and focused for the battle for Pennsylvania. In addition, all the outside hits fired up this team. This game will probably be boring for casual fans. But I love watching these defensive battles. I look forward to the checks and balances used to stop these two offenses this Sunday. The Steelers have the No. 4 run defense. But the Eagles offense has already beaten the No. 1 Raven defense. 1 against the run. My key matchup will be a clash of the titans, TJ Watt vs. Lane Johnson. Whoever wins this battle will probably win the game.

Mike Mulhern (10-3)
Just when it looked like the Eagles might be marching calmly toward the postseason, a week full of drama grabbed the headlines. It wasn’t just a “past” comment from AJ Brown. For some reason, he highlighted the team’s offensive problems. The 83-yard haul through the air against the lowly Panthers is worth pointing fingers at, and I expect immediate adjustments Sunday against the Steelers. Mike Tomlin’s group plays a lot of man coverage with a single high safety, so expect Jalen Hurts to have plenty of opportunities to get his (former?) best friend the ball. Brown torched the Steelers for 156 yards and three touchdowns in the 2022 season. He won’t reach those marks, but expect a big day for No. 11.
On the other hand, Russell Wilson will be without his top target in George Pickens, who is out with a hamstring injury. It’s a significant blow to a Steelers offense that likes to shoot deep itself. Najee Harris will grind out yards much like Chuba Hubbard did on Sunday for the Panthers, but Pittsburgh will struggle to come up with big plays. It will be the bounce back game the Eagles need.
