Shari closes yet another Boise restaurant. Here’s what’s left

Shari’s has closed one of its last remaining locations in Idaho.

The chain’s restaurant at 8121 W. Chinden Blvd. near Glenwood Street in Garden City was closed for good Wednesday, according to a note left on the door.

“Thank you for helping to support 30+ years of service in this area,” the announcement said.

Shari’s, once the largest family restaurant in the Pacific Northwest, has closed four more restaurants in Idaho this year, including one in April at 8521 W. Franklin Road near the Boise Towne Square mall, and another in August at 1807 Caldwell Blvd. in Nampa in August, according to Google business listings. It closed one in May in Lewiston, and another in July in Idaho Falls.

The closing appears to leave two Shari’s restaurants in Idaho, including one at 895 S. Progress Ave. near Meridian Road and Interstate 84 in Meridian and at 1601 Blue Lake Blvd. (Idaho 93) in Twin Falls. It is not known if these locations will close again.

When the Statesman called the Garden City restaurant in October, an employee said the business would remain open. Now, a notice on the door tells the customer to visit its Meridian location.

Two calls Friday by a Statesman reporter to the Meridian restaurant were answered with a message that said, “The party you reached for is unavailable.” An employee of a nearby business reached by phone Friday afternoon said the restaurant had a car in its parking lot and appeared to be open.

The Twin Falls restaurant is still open, according to an employee who answered the phone.

The companies facing Shari are facing two class-action lawsuits in Oregon and Washington involving former employees and job applicants, the Idaho Statesman previously reported.
