The retailer saw strong demand for holiday products including furniture and jewelry.
Costco ran Black Friday sales in early November, in an effort to avoid any sales blow from the Thanksgiving weekend.
That left just 26 days before Christmas, slowing down the holiday shopping season.
Costco has been offering products including some electronics at great prices to drive sales.
Some US retailers began promoting in early October in anticipation of a shorter holiday season.
Major competitor Walmart has been cutting prices, and it raised its annual sales and profit in November for the third time this year.
Analysts say that shows that consumer demand in the US remains strong.
Costco also benefited from a rise in membership fees in the last quarter, driving revenues from charges to $10 billion.
Shares in the firm are up by half this year, and gained nearly 1% in US after-hours trading on Thursday.
