Prince William is in Paris—and pulling off his usual body language. The future king, 42, went to France to attend the reopening ceremony of the Notre-Dame cathedral after the devastating fire in 2019. This is an important event, of course, but I could not help but cover the language of the prince.
Kensington Palace Posts Shocking Pictures of Prince William—and I’ve Seen a Big Shift in His Body Language

As noted by Philip Mutz of News and Entertainment, during public events, the future king cannot stop himself from crossing his arms in front of his body. In fact, it’s a move he’s used over and over again. Look at the picture above. Prince William stands between the French President and First Lady, Emmanuel and Brigitte Macron. Although he is smiling, of course, his arms are folded in front of his body.
As Mutz writes, “Although it may seem like a normal place to put the hands, from the point of view of body language, it actually shows a bit of discomfort and the desire to stay closed. The hands in front of the body are kind. to prevent movement.”

In another picture from the scene at the cathedral, the prince is sitting with his hands folded on his lap (although I’m not sure it’s a defensive way of sitting). He was also seen shaking hands with the American First Lady Dr. Jill Biden.

Per BBCThe prince’s last official trip to Paris was in 2017, when he visited with the Princess of Wales for a two-day trip after the Brexit result. The most recent visit was the best – many world leaders flocked to the City of Light to see Notre-Dame reopen after five years of major renovations following a major fire in April 2019.

Following the fire, Macron set a five-year target for reconstruction. BBC reports that an estimated 2,000 masons, carpenters, builders, roofers, architects, artists, sculptors and engineers worked on the project.

Now that it has been restored, tourists are clamoring for it to come back. The head of the church told reporters that the tickets for the first week of most people sold out in 25 minutes.
So it looks like the prince has won one of the hottest tickets in town—even if his body language suggests he might not be completely comfortable.
The royal family (including Kate Middleton) are united today – but I noticed something strange about King Charles.
