Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand is back in the hot seat this week, as New York’s Handsome Brook Farms issued a voluntary recall of 12 units of Organic Pasture Raised 24-Count Eggs. The company’s announcement and its official FDA release came on November 27, 2024 just before the Thanksgiving holiday. Mention the health risk that may occur due to the possible presence of foodborne illness SalmonellaHandsome Brook Farms is doing everything in its power to move forward with the matter in a timely manner in order to maintain customer safety.
This notice lists 1800 units of Organic Pasture Raised 24-Count Eggs with UPC 9661910680, packaged in plastic egg cartons marked with the Kirkland Signature on top. The recall mainly applies to components with Julian code 327 and a “Use By” date of January 5, 2025. This information can be found printed on the side of 24-count egg cartons. Currently, no other products have been named as being affected by the recall.

The egg cartons in question were distributed to 25 Costco stores in the following states: Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. The affected shipment is reported to have left the farm as recently as November 22, 2024. The recall was initiated after Handsome Brook Farms discovered that eggs not intended for commercial distribution were accidentally placed and distributed in packaging stores, leading to more sales fraud and more. retraining is needed to prevent future recurrences.
Salmonella organisms can lead to serious and sometimes fatal illnesses in young children, the weak or elderly and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy people who contract this disease may experience fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In extreme cases, those who are infected can experience viral infections, endocarditis and arthritis.

So far, no illnesses or complaints have been reported. And while the recall is being done in cooperation with the FDA, affected consumers are encouraged to stop consuming the products and return them to their local Costco warehouse for a full refund—or dispose of the products immediately.
