A Russian tourist visiting Koh Samui, Thailand, died after being swept away by huge waves on Friday while doing yoga on a rock at a popular viewpoint.
Local media identified the woman as 24-year-old Kamilla Beliatskaya.
Police reviewed CCTV footage that showed Beliatskaya arriving at the Laad Koh parking lot in a red car around 1pm.
She then took a pink yoga mat from the trunk of the car before walking down to the rocky area below the lonely viewpoint.

Moments later, the video shows Beliatskaya being swept off the rocks by powerful waves. The onlookers were shocked and watched helplessly as the tragedy unfolded.

Witnesses contacted the Bo Phut Police station at 1:30 in the evening to report that the woman was missing.
He was last seen struggling in rough waters, with waves reaching heights of up to nine meters, local news Khaosod English reported.

The water rescue teams tried to search the Beliatskaya area, but the operation was stopped after 30 minutes because the tide kept getting higher.
Earlier in the day, Jet Ski crews removed their vehicles from the beach due to dangerous conditions.
Khaosod English reported that the incident happened near Laad Koh area in Moo 6, Bo Phut District, Surat Thani Province in Thailand. Surat Thani is home to the popular tourist islands of Koh Samui, Koh Tao and Koh Phangan.
Chaiyaporn Subprasert, head of the Samui Rescue Center, told this publication that warning systems were in place on all beaches of the island.

“During the monsoon season, we always warn tourists, especially in dangerous areas such as Chaweng and Lamai beach, where red flags indicate not to swim,” he said. “Although the place of the incident is not a swimming area but a view of the area, the victim may have been accidentally caught by the unexpected rise of the tide.”
At 11 pm on Saturday, the police received a report that employees of the Impeña Resort Hotel found a body on Chaweng Noi Beach. The body was determined to be that of Beliatskaya. Her boyfriend, Grigorii Anokhin, confirmed the announcement, according to Khaosod English.
Authorities have advised tourists to be extra careful during high tides and to avoid rocky areas along the coast if the currents are large.
