The restaurant will close a location at the Peoria mall as the owner works to open a new location

Fort Clark Gastropub will close its grill inside the Northwoods Mall after a deadline on Dec. 3. The business shared news of the impending closure in Nov. 29 Facebook posts.

The announcement read in part: “In these last days support is much needed as I walk to continue my dreams!! I know when people hear about closing they assume it’s over for good it’s not here as I’ve been working on something big and cool to show people here soon as most know I don’t stop and raise!!”

Fort Clark is working to open a new location at 1869 Washington Road in Washington, according to a video posted in late October.

The location was once home to Cranwill’s Bar & Grill – which closed after less than three months in business. Before that, the location was once home to Cummins Restaurant. The restaurant announced it was moving to another location in 2021.

Shortly after sharing the November announcement, Fort Clark deleted comments about the post and asked the community to remain positive.

The reply summed it up: “DON’T BE SORRY BE HAPPY EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOTHING ANYTHING IT’S A THING THAT SHOWS US THAT THERE’S A LOT MORE NEXT IT NEEDS TO WORK YALL!!”

Earlier this year, Fort Clark was voted No. 1 in the Journal Star’s French fry face-off.
