The former president of the country, Mr. Bill Clinton, is blaming Russia for his wife Hillary Clinton’s victory in the 2016 presidential election.
In “Citizen: My Life After the White House” (Knopf), Clinton reflects on what she has been doing since 2000. Another announcement acknowledges her anger at what happened in 2016, when her favorite Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.
The former head of state says he “couldn’t sleep for two years” and saw a “burst of anger” from those results, leading to a situation where he “wasn’t worth being around.”
“Everything is hard for me to write,” Clinton wrote. “I apologize to all those who endured my anger, which lasted for years and bothered or bored people who thought it was useless to restore things that cannot be changed,” said the 42nd president.
Clinton blames a number of factors for her wife’s defeat, including former FBI Director James Comey, the email investigation, a rogue reporter, and especially Russian influence on social media.
“Nearly two years after the election, Kathleen Hall Jamieson, a well-respected sociologist, said the Russian cyber attack on Comey’s involvement was effective enough to persuade voters in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin to vote third-party or stay home,” he wrote.
“If that’s the case, Putin’s supporters were Comey and the politicians.”
Clinton also spoke about her relationship with financier Jeffrey Epstein, a former benefactor who allowed the former president to fly on his controversial “Lolita Express” plane. Clinton admits to riding horses, but never visited Epstein’s Island retreat, where the alleged child abuse took place.
“The bottom line is that, although it allowed me to visit my foundation’s work, Epstein’s flight was not worth the years of questioning afterward. I wish I had never met him,” said the former president.
“I have always thought that Epstein was a mysterious person who did not know the crimes he was committing,” he wrote. “He hurt many people, but I didn’t know anything, and when he was arrested in 2005, I stopped talking to him. I have never visited his island.”
