The Philadelphia 76ers finally saw their trio of Joel Embiid, Paul George and Tyrese Maxey on the court for the first time this season on Wednesday. It took about half.
George left the Sixers’ 117-111 loss against the Memphis Grizzlies with a hyperextended left knee and did not return, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The knee is the same knee that caused George to miss the first five games of the season with a bone bruise from an earlier hyperextension.
The injury appears to have occurred when George landed awkwardly after jumping on Grizzlies wing Desmond Bane’s defense in the third quarter.

Embiid bumped knees with Grizzlies big man Jaren Jackson Jr. shortly after George was ejected. and visibly limped towards the bench. Fortunately, he stayed in the game.
George worsening or re-injuring his knee would be just the latest blow in a miserable season for the Sixers, who entered Wednesday tied for last in the Eastern Conference with a 2-11 record.
Philadelphia was supposed to be among the top contenders in the East this season after trading George, but injuries have wreaked havoc on their roster thus far. Both Embiid and George were out early in the season, with Embiid dealing with a knee ailment and George with a bone bruise.
Then Embiid earned a suspension for shoving a commentator for writing something about his injury management that he thought was over the line. Then Maxey went down with an injury to his right hamstring.
All three finally got back on the court on Wednesday, and the result was another loss and more pain.
