A young mother killed after she was knocked off an e-bike in a hit-and-run accident has been named.
Alana Armstrong, 25, was riding on the back of a bicycle on Tuesday night after being followed by a dark-coloured 4×4, Derbyshire Police said.
After the car hit another bike which caused the rider and the driver to fall, the car left without stopping. Ms Armstrong, from Tibshelf, was pronounced dead at the scene in Batley Lane, Pleasley.
The cyclist, a 20-year-old man, was taken to hospital where his leg was amputated below the knee.
Chief superintendent Dave Kirby said: “Alana was just 25 years old – and a mother to a six-year-old boy.
“Her little boy, along with her extended family, will never get the chance to see her again, hug her again, spend Christmas together, or celebrate these events. My thoughts, along with those of the entire force and community, are with me at this time. “

Police have launched a homicide investigation and are now appealing for information about a green colored Land Rover Discovery, believed to be a model between 2004 and 2009, in the Pleasley area just before 8pm on Tuesday.
It was last seen on Rowthorne Lane, before turning right onto the A617 towards New Houghton, police said. It is believed that there were two people inside – the man who was driving and the woman who was in the passenger seat.
A man and woman in their 30s, from the Skegby area of Nottinghamshire, have been arrested in connection with the incident. They were released from custody without any charges against them and it was said that they will no longer be investigated.
“Since Tuesday a team of detectives have been working non-stop, searching the area where Alana was murdered, making door-to-door inquiries, and reviewing CCTV in the area,” Ch Supt Kirby said.
“The two people arrested in connection with the incident have been released without charge – and have been relieved of our investigation.”
He added: “We have already received a great deal of information from the public and I would like to thank everyone who has already come forward to help our investigation. However, I know there is more information out there – and there are people who know who the culprit is.
“We would like to hear from anyone who may have known these two people, who may have seen a Land Rover Discovery that may have suffered front-end damage – or who knows of a vehicle matching that description which may have been recently repaired or replaced.
“We would also like to speak to anyone who may have CCTV – particularly along the A617 from this junction towards New Houghton.
“Finally – I want to go back to Alana. As an officer, as a member of the local community, and as a father, I am saddened for his little boy, his family, and his friends and we will do everything we can to find those responsible.”
