Crosby from the Penguins reached another NHL scoring list

Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby had two assists in a 5-4 win over the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday, November 27.

According to NHL Public Relations, those helpers gave Crosby more than 80 regular season points in a calendar year, making 2024 the 13th time he’s scored that many points in 365 days.

For most years, he moves into third place in NHL history with 80 points in the regular season, surpassing Hall of Famer Mark Messier and soon-to-be leading scorer Alex Ovechkin.

With Crosby signed with the Penguins through July 1, 2027, there’s a chance he’ll catch another Hall of Famer, Marcel Dionne, who is second with 15 years with 80 or more points.

Naturally, Wayne Gretzky remains atop the list at 16, meaning Crosby would have to play at the start of the 2027-28 season if he wanted to catch The Great One.
