CNN Data Reporter Has ‘Good Grace’ Time Over GOP’s House Majority

CNN’s senior political reporter was surprised by the razor-thin 220-215 House majority Republicans will have over Democrats if the election results are in.

“My goodness,” Harry Enten announced on Wednesday’s “News Central” broadcast.

“Yes. The Republicans are going to control the House of Representatives. But when all the current results stand, we’re looking at a small minority … in the last 90 years. You have to go back from the Herbert Hoover administration to get a small majority in the November elections. “

Enten added, “Keep thinking this is going to fall down,” noting that now-former Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.) left Congress after Trump failed to pressure him to become attorney general. Enten also confirmed that Reps. Elise Stefanik (RN.Y.) and Mike Waltz (R-Fla.) are set to leave their House posts and join the Trump administration as the US ambassador to the United Nations and national security adviser.

Then, Enten noted, there will be a 217-215 majority until special elections are held to fill those seats. The Gaetz and Waltz seats are located in reliable safe locations.

“This is crazy, isn’t it?” Enten said.

“The bottom line is, look, the results of the November election were not very good for the Democrats, but this is a light for them,” he added.

“They’ve really got the Republican majority down. And given the potential resignations that are coming, the House Republicans, the majority in this House is going to be a record, record low.”
