Wet weather and cool temperatures are expected for much of New Jersey for Thanksgiving this year.
According to the National Weather Service, the rain that has fallen over the city is expected to continue until Thursday evening before moving from west to east around 5 pm.
In total, less than one inch of rain is expected.
While the rain may be ending, this Thanksgiving weekend will be a “quick, slow weekend” with cold weather next week.

Highs in the mid to upper 40s tomorrow are considered seasonable but lows toward the 20s later this week and early next week will be five to 10 degrees below average, according to the National Weather Service.

In some years, wind has been more of an issue than rainfall or temperature, said Bob Ziff of the North Jersey Weather Observers.
Ziff noted that this is the first significant rainfall on Thanksgiving since the half inch of rain that fell in Bergenfield in 2020.
The rain system that is visible in the state will now move up into New England, creating cold temperatures and the possibility of heavy snow in the lake areas of western New York, which could affect the return of the holidays, Ziff said.
