Three people are dead and one person is in hospital after a Tesla Cybertruck crashed and burst into flames in California early Wednesday morning. The truck is said to have climbed the cross, smashed the barrier and entered between a tree and a wall before catching fire.

A Tesla Cybertruck electric truck crashed in Piedmont, California, this morning, reports ABC7 News. Three people inside the truck died in the collision, a fourth was pulled from the wreckage by the driver of the car following behind, according to ABC7:

Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan says the truck “jumped off the side of the road, hit a cement wall, then went between the wall and a tree.”

The truck notified 911 about the crash, and police say a second vehicle pulled up to the scene a short time later and the driver was able to extricate the person from the Cybertruck.

This person was taken to the hospital, but it is not known what their condition is.

When police arrived at the scene, the wreckage of the truck was already engulfed in flames, reports local KTVU2. Police and firefighters soon closed part of the road where the accident occurred as they worked to put out the flames.

The cause of the crash and subsequent fire is still unknown and authorities have not released the names and relationships of the people involved in the conflict, as KTVU2 adds:

“This is just a tragic loss of life,” [police chief Jeremy] Bowers said. “We don’t know what caused the collision and during the holiday season, our hearts go out to the families who will have to deal with this problem.”

This is the third fatal accident involving a Tesla Cybertruck this year, and it follows a horrific accident south of the border that left a woman in critical condition and led company CEO Elon Musk to call the truck “stronger than a bag of nails.”

The second fatal incident involving an electric pickup is also being investigated to try and determine how the truck fell and what caused it to burst into flames and burn violently.
