DALLAS – Some people who live in the Valley View Lane area of Far North Dallas are focusing on a man who was caught on camera breaking or trying to break into houses there.
Six residents in the same community had their homes or cars burglarized or attempted burglaries. Most of this happened in a 72-hour window between Friday and Sunday night, and they didn’t wait for the police to do everything.
The man was caught on camera last Friday around 8 pm in a backyard in the 13600 block of Far Hills Lane trying to open a patio sliding glass door.
“What are you doing? Get out of there! I see. I’m calling the police right now!” the owner of the house told the man through his Ring camera.
“We were afraid because our children were here. We were not there. We were in another city celebrating our birthday,” said the owner of the house Monica Sais. “When he heard my husband’s voice, you could see him raising his hands in the air. You can’t really hear what he’s saying, but according to my interpretation, he’s trying to come out as unharmed, as if he’s not causing it. any problems.”
Sais wasted no time adding more cameras.
“I know it sounds silly, but we ended up adding more cameras,” he said. “We have a camera now between our house and the house he entered.”
Neighbor Suzanne Greever says someone broke into her garage and made off with her cars Sunday morning. His cameras show the same man in different clothes from the Sais cameras.
Greever took action by creating flyers to notify neighbors. He soon realized that they were not the only ones being targeted.
“We realized from there, that behind us there was another house facing Sunday morning and another car just a distance away,” he said. “Sunday night, packages were stolen from the front porch by the same man across two streets that way. He’s working in the area.”
Greever and other neighbors banded together to fight the criminal.
“We actually posted pictures of him online, etc. And we had people jogging and walking dogs, etc. They were like, ‘We saw this guy.’ So now they have been warned,” he said. “This is not the only thing, of course, he stole some things from me. But the main thing, he tried to enter the house where the family was. So we are trying to take measures now.”
Women are encouraged and are trying to create a crime watch environment.
