Steph reveals what surprised him when Buddy’s workout routine originally appeared on NBC Sports Bay Area

Steph Curry was surprised by Buddy Hield’s intense training regimen.

The Golden State superstar explained on the latest episode of “Dubs Talk” how remarkable Hield’s work ethic has been since joining the team this summer.

“It’s like when.” [Kevin Durant] he came in and you see a guy at the top of the list with certain skills, you see them work,” Curry told Monte Poole and Dalton Johnson of NBC Sports Bay Area.

“I look at Buddy, I know he’s talking about me. I know there’s a clip where he was doing an interview after practice and he said, ‘You’re all interrupting me to watch Steph shoot.’ I do the exact same thing with him.

“I fully admit that he shoots a lot more shots than I do in practice. It’s not even close. The volume is insane. And it’s something I never knew was part of his routine.”

Hield has developed into one of the NBA’s elite long-range shooters and has made more 3-pointers over the past five seasons than any other NBA player.

His addition to the Warriors lessened the departure of Klay Thompson, giving Golden State another scoring opportunity off the bench.

So far, Curry has been most impressed with Hield’s approach to shooting.

“He’s a workaholic, he’s a gym rat, he loves to shoot when he feels right,” Curry told Poole and Johnson. “I’m a little more calculated in terms of intensity and where I’m getting shots. So it’s pretty cool to see two different approaches. We motivate each other in this direction. I’ve been doing it with Klay for 13 years and now I have a new teammate pushing me.”

A pair of “Splash Buddies” have worked extremely well for Golden State. The team is off to a 9-2 start to the season thanks to lethal shooting from the duo.

The 31-year-old is averaging 16.6 points per game, which is second-highest in the NBA among bench players. Meanwhile, Curry continues to be one of the best players on the planet, capable of taking over games and pushing the Warriors to victory.

While there is no replica of the Curry-Thompson magic, Hield is doing a more than admirable job in his first season with the Warriors.
