Harris County Pct. 5 deputy constable, daughter was killed

HOUSTONA Harris County Pct. A Deputy Constable 5 and her young daughter died in a three-car crash in Houston on Friday morning, officials say.

According to the Constable’s office, Deputy Constable Katherine Hutson, 46, was working on an errand when she and her daughter Kacey were killed.

The crash happened shortly after 3 a.m. in the westbound lanes between Washington Avenue and I-610.

According to the police chief’s office, Deputy Constable Hutson was working on a road maintenance project. The police say that he appears to have been in a car parked on the right shoulder of the highway when another car hit his car.

A bucket truck was also damaged in the accident. A road worker was standing outside the car and caught fire. Police initially said he was a TxDOT employee, but TxDOT has since denied that was the case.

The road worker and the driver in the car that was hit have been taken to the hospital, police say. They were last reported to be stable.

The police say that the 23-year-old male driver of the car who was on strike has remained at the scene and is helping. He was found impaired and is currently charged with intoxication manslaughter and intoxication manslaughter (of a child), officials say. Both are guilty.
