49ers QB Brock Purdy did not practice Friday, putting his Week 12 status in question

San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy did not practice Friday, leaving his status for the Week 12 matchup with the Green Bay Packers in doubt.

While the 49ers have yet to make an official announcement, the NFL has placed Purdy on the injured list. He was previously listed as doubtful, but has apparently been downgraded.

Right shoulder soreness limited Purdy in practice Wednesday and Thursday, and he sat out the team’s final practice before traveling to Green Bay.

General manager John Lynch told KNBR on Friday that Purdy underwent an MRI and described his condition Sunday as “gentle.”

“Hopefully he’ll make progress and we’ll try to do that this weekend, but we’ll see,” Lynch said. “I think it’s weak.

At Thursday’s practice, Purdy’s participation consisted of soft throws while San Francisco’s three other quarterbacks went through drills with QB coach Brian Griese. Purdy stopped after about five minutes, had trainers treat his shoulder and returned to the locker room, according to reporters.

Purdy was hit in the right shoulder during last week’s 20-17 loss to the Seattle Seahawks. He finished the game, but didn’t throw any 10 yards after the interception. There was no indication that Purdy was injured.

If Purdy is unable to play on Sunday, Brandon Allen will likely step into San Francisco’s starting quarterback position with Joshua Dobbs backing him up.

Additionally, defensive end Nick Bosa is listed on the injury report with hip and oblique issues. Bosa suffered the injury in practice on Nov. 6 and played through the injury in the Week 10 game against Tampa Bay.

He left last week’s game against the Seahawks in the third quarter and did not return. Bosa told reporters after the game that he injured his oblique muscle while compensating for a hip injury.
