1 person died in a crash on I-10 in West El Paso

UPDATE: The eastbound lanes reopened around 5 a.m. and the westbound lanes just before 7 a.m. after a fatal crash on I-10 West between Sunland Park and Executive Center closed the road for hours, according to TxDOT.

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – One person is dead after a crash along Interstate 10 in West El Paso early Saturday morning, Dec. 14, El Paso Police said.

The crash happened on I-10 West between Executive Center and Sunland Park Drive, police said. The police sent a notification to the media at 12:30 in the morning but did not say when exactly the accident happened.

The police confirmed that one person died but did not say how many cars were involved or what caused the accident.

Special Traffic Investigations responded to the scene. This specialized unit usually responds to accidents with serious injuries or fatalities.

TxDOT said I-10 is closed in both directions before Sunland Park due to the crash. The cleaning period is until further notice.
